A Dollar Bill December 3, 2010

by Judy Gosnell on 12/05/10

Dave and I got home from shopping, and I got the mail, then sat down and opened a large envelope which was a request to fill out a survey form...and at the bottom of it was a dollar bill (real) and at the exact moment I saw it, on TV, Opie Taylor (the Andy Griffith Show) excitedly showed his dad, Sheriff Taylor, a dollar bill and said "DAD, I GOT THE DOLLAR BILL". Oh how I love those synchronicities!!

Bobby Birdsall Appears in the Melting Snow

by Judy Gosnell on 09/26/10

This has to be one of the strangest events that ever happened to me. I was in Colorado, it was spring, early 1980s, melting snow, in a big parking lot at the ski area (Steamboat) I was absolutely heartbroken over my then husband's affair...and was reading a book I had purchased in Oregon, by Sondra Ray (You Deserve Love) while walking around the perimeter of the parking lot. The snow around the lot was melting, and there were little rivulets running aout like lace from the snowbanks into the empty parking lot. I am rapt...reading...the author has a chapter about her friend Bobby Birdsall...and I had just opened that chapter, with that chapter heading. At that moment, I looked down and saw a little corner of white paper sticking out from under the melting snow; I reach down and pull it from the snowbank. I turn it over. It's barely wet. It is a business card. It reads..."Bobby Birdsall, Certified Ski Instructor" with a Steamboat phone number. Seriously!!! Go ahead, figure the odds on that one!! No, not the same Bobby Birdsall, but even if it had been...

DOROTHY'S MAGIC RED SHOES

by Judy Gosnell on 09/12/10

Surely you remember Dorothy's magic red shoes, from WIZARD OF OZ?
If and when she clicked them together, they would take her back "home".

If you owned them, and clicked them together...where would you go? Where would "HOME" be? I'm thinking carefully about this, because I expect those shoes to show up UPS any day now. Or, does Glenda bring them?

Swooshing the Universe

SWOOSHING  THE UNIVERSE

"Every action, every word has an effect on everything around us."

I once had a profound experience which so demonstrated the truth of this statement.

One summer day in Redmond I was playing with our two dogs Nikki and Sasha, one all black, one all white (a Bouvier and a Samoyed) and they started to go up our outside staircase, which had open "see through" steps and was not enclosed.
I was right behind them, facing the setting sun over the Three Sisters mountains.
The edges of their fur, especially Sasha's fluffy white tail, were glowing from the setting sun's backlighting.
I felt so happy following behind these wonderful dogs...and feeling the golden setting sun.
I was two steps below the dogs, but I took my arm and swooshed it around in front of me to fluff Sasha's (the Samoyed's) beautiful white tail, and the "air" seemed to thicken to an invisible density so great that my "swoosh" was affecting the whole world, indeed...the whole Universe. It was like swooshing my arm through water, only thicker. I was swooshing the Universe!

It was a thrilling moment, and one I will never forget.
It left me exhilarated for hours.

I have always thought this happened to me because I was so "in the present moment"
and not thinking of any of life's problems, just loving watching the dog's tails as they went up the stairs. It was a rare moment indeed.
